“Saltonstall’s Trial” is a new original play, onstage at the Larcom Theatre, 13 Wallis St., Beverly, Mass., Oct. 17-27. The play is based on the little-known story of Judge Nathaniel Saltonstall who served on the witch trial court. As hysteria abounds in 1692, Saltonstall, a respected judge from Haverhill, is called to Salem. Upon arrival, Saltonstall questions the legitimacy of the proceedings. Ultimately he is forced to choose between his integrity and self-preservation. The truth will put his loved ones at risk and himself on trial. Evening and matinee performances available.
